KT Soon, Psychotherapist and Couples Counsellor

About KT Soon

KT Soon is a Psychotherapist and Couples Counsellor practising at Raffles Counselling Centre. She works with individuals and couples facing emotional, relational and performance-related difficulties — from recurring patterns that leave relationships stuck, to anxiety, self-doubt and pressure that begin to affect how a person works, leads or performs. Her approach combines psychological understanding with a practical appreciation of the demands people carry in their relationships, professional lives and positions of responsibility. She works collaboratively with clients to understand what lies beneath recurring difficulties, develop greater clarity, and move towards more constructive ways of responding.

Before entering psychotherapy practice, KT spent 16 years building and leading a technology company. That experience gives her a practical, grounded understanding of performance pressure, leadership responsibility, workplace dynamics, and the demands faced by high-achieving professionals — and it shapes how she works with executives, business leaders, and others navigating high-stakes environments.

KT's interest in psychology began much earlier. Growing up close to significant psychological difficulty within her own family gave her an early understanding of how emotional and mental health struggles can affect not only the individual, but the people around them. That experience eventually led her towards formal study in psychology and counselling, and continues to inform the perspective and empathy she brings to her work today.

Before the consulting room

A psychotherapist who understands the pressures of business and leadership.

16 years

as entrepreneur and technology company leader

Before entering psychotherapy, KT spent 16 years as an entrepreneur and business leader, building and leading a technology company and working closely with clients, teams and senior decision-makers in complex, high-pressure environments. That experience gives her a first-hand understanding of performance pressure, leadership responsibility, difficult decisions, workplace dynamics and the expectations often carried by high-achieving professionals. Her business background brings a perspective that complements her training in psychology and counselling. Executives, founders and senior professionals may find it easier to speak openly with someone who understands not only the psychological dimensions of pressure, but also the realities of leading, performing and making consequential decisions. KT has sat in the room where the decisions are made — and understands the pressures that can follow people long after they leave it.

That experience gives her a practical understanding of performance pressure, leadership responsibility, workplace dynamics, and the demands faced by high-achieving professionals — the kind of understanding that cannot be acquired from a textbook.

It is why executives, founders, and senior leaders often find that working with KT feels different from working with a clinician who has only ever worked in clinical settings. She has sat in the room where the decisions are made.

Philosophy

How I work

Ms Soon works from a Person-Centred foundation: a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship comes first. That trust doesn't soften her clinical read on a client — it sharpens it, helping her see the pattern underneath a presenting problem, not only the problem itself. She is analytical without being detached: rigorous about what's actually going on, and genuinely invested in why.

"At the heart of it, her work is grounded in something simple — a genuine love for people, and a trust in each person's capacity to grow."
